Two Locations • Secular • Community-Based • Parent-Run
Trailblazing Scholars is a secular, parent-run homeschool co-op built on community, connection, and curiosity. We work together to create an inclusive learning space for kids from preschool through high school.
With two locations in Northern Indiana, we support homeschooling families by offering group classes, community clubs, shared resources, and a welcoming environment for all ages. Our co-op is shaped by the interests of our families; things like science, fishing, hiking, cooking, and robotics often become the starting point for learning and friendships.
Outside of class days, we stay connected through events, group field trips, and the occasional camping trip. These shared experiences help us grow closer and keep learning together in meaningful ways.
We also believe in giving back. Supporting one another and contributing to our wider community is part of how we operate day-to-day.
At Trailblazing Scholars, learning doesn’t just happen at a desk. It happens on trails, around picnic tables, beside a pond, and through the relationships we build with each other.
Trailblazing Scholars has grown from a small group of families with a big idea into a thriving community rooted in curiosity, creativity, and connection. Here are some of our proudest milestones:
January 2024: Our very first day of classes : where it all began!
May 2024: Honored to receive the VELA Grant, helping us expand our vision.
Ongoing: We’ve hosted mobile library classes, field trips, and hands-on learning experiences that bring education to life, for more than just our members. We strive to bring educational and community focused activities to the local homeschool community as well.
May 2025: Launched the first homeschool co-op scholarship program in the area, ensuring every family has access to enriching educational opportunities.
August 2025: Introduced our High School Program, expanding our community and bringing more opportunities to our older learners.
Over 100 parent-led and 10 student-led classes completed or underway.
Along the way, we’ve offered unique classes, student-led clubs, and community fundraisers that keep us connected and growing together.
We’re proud to be the first homeschool co-op in our area to host classes at a park, using nature as the backbone of learning and proving that education can be as adventurous as it is meaningful.
Our LaPorte chapter meets at Red Mill County Park and is the original and largest branch of Trailblazing Scholars. With a wide range of academic and enrichment classes, including options for earning high school credit, it offers a vibrant and collaborative environment for learners at many stages.
Nestled in the natural beauty of Potato Creek State Park, our North Liberty chapter is inspired by nature and fosters curiosity, creativity, and connection through hands-on experiences for all ages, with options for students to earn high school credit along the way.
